Kumbla man killed in balloon explosion in Sharjah

Mangalore, 31 Oct 2012: A man from Kumbla of Kasarogd district died and three others sustained severe injuries when a hot air balloon accidentally exploded in the emirate of Sharjah on Tuesday night.

 

The deceased has been identified Abdul Khander, aka Khalid, hailing from Seenthagoli in Kumbla. An expatriate worker from the Indian state of Paschimbanga and two Pakistanis were injured during the incident.

 

38-year-old Khalid, who spent nearly 16 years in Sharjah, was working as a personal driver.

 

The incident occurred during the birth day celebration of one of the friends of Khalid. It is learnt that a huge hydrogen-filled balloon was exploded when the people were busy in celebration.
