Mbelle: Mysterious death of dogs-hand of robbers suspected

Moodubelle, 08 October 2012: It is shocking that   a number of dogs in Kappandakariya area have become victims of mysterious death. It is suspected that robbers might have been on prowl in the area who would like to see that the dogs would not hinder their activities.

 

Since few weeks back the dogs have been mysterious disappearing. The homes which have lost the dogs were of the opinion that the dogs might have fallen victims to either tigers or cheetah. However, when shanmukha Shetty found his dog seriously ill and suffering.  When the dog was administered first aid thinking that it might have consumed poison, it vomited pieces of chicken intestine. In spite of their efforts, Shanmukha could not save his dog. Meanwhile, similar cases of dogs which had died in similar way in the area came to light.

 

 

The locals strongly suspect that sandalwood  thieves who are active during night might have been behind these in human activities. It is believed that these sandalwood thieves identify the sandalwood plants and cut and smuggle them as sandalwood fetches good price. Moreover, there is also suspicion that some unscrupulous persons may be involved in illegal hunting activities and might have been using the chicken intestine pieces mixed with poison to kill protected wild animals and might have been selling the meat of these wild animals thus killed to unsuspecting customers. However, the domestic dogs which stray around and eat such poisoned stuff have died.  

  

There had been some instances of chain snatching in and around Moodubelle in the recent past. Housebreaking incidents have also been reported. Under these circumstances it has been strongly suspected that robbers, sandalwood thieves and chain snatchers are on the prowl and have been trying to get rid of dogs so that these anti-social elements can carry on their nefarious activities without any hindrance. Those families who have lost their dogs have been approaching their deities to find answers to these questions.
