Mangalore, 02 Aug 2012: Mangalore City Police arrested seven more persons in connection with Saturday’s brutal attack on revellers at a birthday party at Morning Mist home stay at Padil on Thursday. Latest arrests take total number to 22. Police on Sunday had arrested eight, including Subash Padil, main accused, four on Monday, and three on Tuesday. More arrests are likely based on ongoing investigations, City Police Chief Seemant Kumar Singh said.

Those arrested are Sampath Poojary, 23, of Kandavara village, Kinnikambala Post, Suresh Poojary, 24, Veeranagar, Kannur, Deepak, 24, Maroli, Mithun Poojary, 21, Kulshekar, Ramesh Kotyan, 40, Jagadish, 20, and Nithin, 28, all from Kannur. All arrested are from Mangalore taluk and face the same charges under which the remaining 15 accused have been booked, including dacoity, outraging the modesty of a woman, Seemant said

Given the sensational nature of the case, Seemant has replaced Ravish Naik, Police Inspector, Mangalore Rural (Kankanady) police station with T R Jagannath, assistant commissioner of police, Mangalore South sub-division as the investigating officer. Seemant said given the fact that it is a very important case, it was deemed fit that a senior police official takes over the investigation and take it to its logical end. "Other police officials will assist him," he said.

In a related development, it is reliably learnt that police officials attached to forest mobile special squad seized three pairs of deer antlers from the Morning Mist home stay. Neither the home stay owner Loretta Rebello, nor the police sub-inspector of the squad Manjunath was available for comments. Seemant told that he was not aware of this development. "They (the forest mobile squad) personnel have not informed me about this," he noted.

Good News that four more goons are arrested. Under pressure Police have to act and it is good the case is given to the senior Police Inspector so these goons are put inside for permanent. Well done Bellevison. You are the first one to report.
