Mangalore, 30 July  2012 : J. R. Lobo, who was recently inducted into the Congress Party, was publicly felicitated at St. Sebastian’s Auditorium in Bendore on the evening of July 29, Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, NRI entrepreneur Ronald Colaco said that J. R. Lobo is the ideal person to represent the Christian community of Mangalore as the Congress has decided to give one place in Bangalore and one in Mangalore for Christian representatives. As a local representative, Mr. Lobo can bring the attention of the state government to various problems such as moral policing, religious intolerance, and others that are facing the district at present, he added.

Stating that Mr. Lobo is not new to politics, he said that he has ample experience managing political stalwarts such as Veerappa Moily, Oscar Fernances, Nagaraj Shetty, Blasius D’Souza, and others. While meeting the requirements of politicians, Mr. Lobo has also met the needs of the people, he added.

Listing out Mr. Lobo’s unknown achievements, he said that, when J. R. Lobo was the honorary chairman of the Karnataka Agenda Task Force (KATF), he had provided statistics, which had led to the upgrading of the sea port, development of access roads, and other development activities. Owing to the contributions of Mr. Lobo, 43 Congress corporators were elected, he added.

Condemning the ruckus at the Congress office on the day J. R. Lobo, along with thirty to forty people, was inducted into the party, he said that he had helped Ivan D’Souza when he was new to politics and had also assisted him when he lost the last elections by 9000 votes, in spite of which Mr. D’Souza had created problems at the program.

He revealed that he had warned Ivan D’Souza the previous night because he had obtained information that he was trying to create problems and had told him that, if he is a sincere and loyal member of the Congress, he would welcome Mr. Lobo and not create problems at the induction ceremony. In spite of this warning, Mr. D’Souza had created problems, he said.

Congress leaders such as U. T. Khader, Tejomaya, Suresh Ballal, Mahabala Marla, Kallige Taranath Shetty, and others were also present.
