Mangalore: 20 hurt in bus mishap at Kallapu

Mangalore, 27 June 2012: More than 20 persons suffered injuries, when a bus plunged into a gorge near Kallapu, on the outskirts of Mangalore on Wednesday.

 

 

According to police, the speeding bus skidded off the road on NH 66 and plunged into a gorge. The incident occurred at 11.45 am. The bus was bound to Talapady from Mangalore when the incident occurred. The injured are Prashanth (18), Devadas (45), Kavitha (37), Hema Kotekar (78), Vasudevoji Rao (61), Rathan Montheiro (20), Reevan Montheiro, Althaf (35), Deepak (20), Lavanya (21), Sarojini (60), Shashiprabha, Avinash (20), Sukanya (44), Vishwanath (45), Sebastin (51), Shalini Acharya (42), Pavithra (42), Ashok (37), Krishnappa (75), Jyothi (20), Mohandas (30), Suresh Shetty (45) and Savithri (38).

 

Rash and negligent driving is said to be the reason for the mishap. MLA U T Khader who visited the spot, said that barricade should be laid on incomplete road on NH 66.
