Udupi: ICYM members of Udupi Deanery learn basics of Charity at Snehalaya, Orphanage

Udupi, 9 Apr 2014: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of Udupi denary in collaboration of ICYM Udyavar parish unit organized a visit to Snehalaya, orphanage run by the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Sisters) at Vincent Pallotti Convent located at Sampigenagara, Udyavar, near here recently.

 

 ICYM members from the parishes of Udupi, Udyavar, Kalmady, Moodubelle, Perampally, Katapady and Kuntalnagar were present on the occasion.

 

Udyavar parish priest and spiritual director Fr Roque D’Souza inaugurated the programme.

 

Udupi deanery ICYM animator Maxim D’Sa, Udyavar ICYM unit animator Anita Saldanha, Vincent Pallotti Convent senior nuns Sr Maria and Sr Jacinta, ICYM Udupi deanery president Roshan Sequeira, Udyavar ICYM unit president Sharon Lobo were present on the occasion.

 

 

Fr Roque D’Souza was the chief guest emphasized on organizing the visit to Snehalaya and also motivated the youth to render their services like this to the needy in their units.

 

Sr Maria gave a bird’s eye view to the gathering about the running of their convent and also about the services rendered by them towards the downtrodden children. Sr Maria said that at present they looked after 41 students at Snehalaya from various parts of the state and supporting them in all the way to their development. After that all the children were given complementary gifts as a token of love and remembrance.

 

The stage programme was followed by entertainment programme like dance and singing by the ICYM members. The children from Snehalaya also exhibited their talents.   The group-wise games were held in order to foster a strong relation between all the members.

 

The programme started by the prayer song sung by the members of ICYM Udyavar unit.  Tina Machado welcomed the gathering.  Jothsna Rodrigues compered the programme.  Roshan Sequeira proposed vote of thanks.
