Sagar, 20 Aug : The Linganamakki dam has become full to the capacity at 1,819 feet. At the backdrop of inflow into the dam has steadily increased, the excess water has been released on Saturday August 17 and Sunday August 18.
Eleven crest gates were opened on both Saturday and Sunday and released excess water of 35,000 cusecs from 7-00am to 11.00am. As the inflow into the dam reduced a little, 3 crest gates were opened at 11.00am and 5,000 cusecs of water was released into the Sharavati river basin. The water level has been maintained at 1,819 feet as inflow was 47,000 cusecs, informed chief engineer Rajamudi.
As the catchment area along Sharavati River is witnessing incessant rains, the excess water from Linganamakki dam is flowing in bubbles thereby attracting the tourists to view the rare sight.
The Kargal dam is overflowing due to excess water released form Linganamakki, while it’s a delight to view the mighty water flowing in bubbles from Saina Gate.
The Jog Falls mesmerizes the tourists with mighty waters gushing at this peak monsoon season. The tourists are queuing up to savor the rare sight.
