Alva’s College Moodbidri Champions in University Level Women Handball tournament

Mangalore, 21 Dec 2012: University Level Women Handball Tournament 2012 was held at Government First Grade College, Kavoor grounds on 18 December, 2012 under the joint auspices of the Department of Physical Education, Mangalore University.  It was for the first time in the history of a Government College flood light match was organized. Mr. Namdagopal Shenoy, Representative, Devagiri Tea, Mangalore inaugurated the Tournament by kicking the ball. Mr. Madhukiran, Corporator of Kavoor Ward, Mr. P.P. Joseph, Principal, Government PU College, Kavoor were the chief guests.  For the inaugural programme Dr. John Pinto, Director of Physical Education welcomed, Mr. Kuncharia K K compered and Mrs. Suvarnamalini B delivered the vote of thanks.

 

 

In this keenly contested tournament, Alva’s College, Moodbidri won the championship, Alva’s College of Physical Education, Moodbidri were the runners-up. St. Philomena’s College Puttur and SDM College (Autonomous) Ujire won Third and Fourth Places respectively.

 

At the valedictory function on the same evening, Dr. P.S. Yadapadithaya, Registrar, Mangalore University, Mr. Nandagopal Shenoy, Mrs. Usha N Shenoy, Proprietor, Devagiri Tea, Dr. Nagalingappa H, Director, Department of Physical Education, Mangalore University were the chief guests. Prizes were distributed by the distinguished guests.  Dr. Shridhara Maniyani, Principal, presided over the function. The Team Manager of Alva’s College, Moodbidri and a player from SDM College (Autonomous), Ujire shared their views about the tournament. Dr. Rajendra Babu, Chief Referee of the Tournament was present on the occasion. Mr. Gopal M Gokhale welcomed, Mr. Kuncharia K K compered and Dr. John Pinto, Director of Physical Education delivered the vote of thanks.
