Kuwait, 26 June 2012: For the 2nd time in Kuwait, San Joao - the Feast of Saint John the Baptist was celebrated by the young enthusiastic members of GCRF comprising of Garrette, Carol, Ronnie & Fiona on board ‘Silsan’ at Kubar Islands, Kuwait on 22nd June 2012.

The vessel left Kuwait docks at 09:00 hrs. Raymond Rego lead the crowd in prayer and from then on the fiesta started with friendly introductions, games and serving the drinks, fruits & channas (sponsored & Prepared by Mrs. Martha Noronha) – San Joao style. GCRF Events always entertain people in their unique way and hence Groups G, C, R & F were formed where chants and jingles were sung creating a lively atmosphere. Each group competed in various games organized – They tried to guess each team’s player through a bedsheet, stuffed balloons up a T-shirt & their creativity was tested through funny and entertaining skit/ ad based on San Joao or Goa. In the end Group R were declared the winners of the games.

Alike the adults, the kids too adorned in the Kopels had a great time dancing to the famous birdie song and Hokey Pokey and playing passing the Kopel where Lil Aaron won the 1st place followed by sweet Serina clinching the 2nd place.

Keeping in mind the Goan tradition, a "San Joao King and Queen 2012" competition was held where the judging criteria included adorning a uniquely beautiful Kopel, a brief introduction and a beautiful beach attire. Our judges, Genevieve & Mabel all the way from Goa, had a tough time deciding the winners but in the end it was Pascoal Noronha who was crowned the GCRF Events- San Joao King 2012 and his gorgeous wife Michelle Noronha was adjudged the GCRF Events- San Joao Queen 2012.

Loads of Spot prizes were given out to adults as well as kids who were actively involved in the celebrations. M & M (salmiya) catered the food and snacks & the dessert was Prepared by Mr. Brigido Fernandes.

And how can one forget the Goan tradition of jumping in the wells....Well after the boat docked off at Kubar Island, people jumped from the boat wearing their Kopels & screaming “Viva San Joao”. Ignoring the scorching Kuwaiti heat, people proceeded to Kubar for a swim and to enjoy the clear blue waters.

After returning on board, snacks and drinks were served followed by a sing-song session medley of Konkani Mandos.

There was also Housie and people continued dancing to the tunes of DJ Ronnie and DJ Savio till the very end of the journey. The programme was well coordinated by one of the GCRF members - Fiona.

GCRF events always believe in providing Enchanting Events for a Lifetime of Memories and they have successfully stuck by their motto.
