Bengaluru, 16 Mar 2015: It’s very common that a person gets fainted or faces normal health issues during mass. Everywhere this is a concern of the devotees to have a physician at the church campus. St John’s Medical College Hospital is very nearby from St Antony’s Church. Because of the heavy traffic and high speed of vehicles, it takes 30-45 minutes to reach the destination.
In order to keeping above views Bangalore Konkani Catholic Sangha, Koramangala (BKCS) opened a First Aid centre in the church premises on Sunday March 15. Oliver D’Souza and family, B V Pinto and family donated the required equipments for the centre. The centre will be functioning on all Saturdays and Sundays during the Mass timings.
Doctors from St John’s Medical College Hospital will be present in the centre during the same. It has all basic and emergency equipments in which patient can be treated free of cost.
Fr Johnny Antony OFM, parish priest of St Antony Church, Madiwala inaugurated and blessed the centre.
To mark this event BKCS has also held blood camp for the dialysis patients of St John’s Medical College Hospital. More than 200 people donated blood voluntarily since morning to evening. Staff and doctors of St John’s Blood bank have co-ordinated with BKCS.
Babu Noronha circle inspector of metropolitan police was the chief guest of the occasion.
B V Pinto, former judge of Karnataka High Court and BKCS president advocate William Pinto and all the office bearers of the Committee was present at the event.
