Manipal: Dr. Padma Rao popular Gynecologist passed away

Udupi, 03 November 2011: Popular Gynecologist Dr. Padma Rao passed away in her residence in Manipal on Thursday, she was 85. She was very popular for the treatment of Children and Mothers in the Udupi region. She served in Manipal Kasturba Medial College (KMC) Hospital when it was started and then later she opened her own hospital.
While she was in KMC she was the Head of Delivery Section for many years. Recognizing her life time achievement, in 1999 she was awarded Life Time Achievement Millennium award in the year 1999. She has given several lectures on Gynecology in India and abroad.
She has left behind her husband Former Dean of K.M.C. Dr. Krishna Rao and three daughters, grand children and great grand children. Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya, MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Former MLA U.R. Sabhapathi, Manipal Entrepreneur Sadhana Kini, Udupi Manipal Rotary Club Office Bearers and other dignitaries of the district have expressed condolences on the death of Dr. Padma Rao.
