Washington D C Bunts host BANA 2017 Convention, brethrens from across US attend

Washington, 07 Aug 2017: The Washington DC Bunts hosted BANA 2017 (Bunts Association of North America) in Cancun, Mexico from July 1 to July 4. The BANA 2017 Convention was a resounding success, held at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico.
The executive Committee of BANA 2017 convention comprised Shweta Adyantaya (president), Rupak Changakoti (vice president), Kripa Shetty and Tina Mally (secretary), Rasika Shetty and Santosh Shetty (treasurers), Shefali Hegde (youth representative), Deesha Adyantaya, Impana Shetty, Rishab Shetty and Simran Shetty (youth Committee members).
Bunts community spread all over the globe are especially well known in hotel industry and also entrepreneurs, theater artistes, yakshagana artistes, bollywood actors such as Aishwarya Rai Bacchan, Shilpa Shetty and Sunil Shetty, movie producer Rohit Shetty and others.
In USA, there are many regional BANA Groups like Mid-Atlantic (DC Washington, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia), Southern 1 (AL, GA, South Carolina), New England (Massachusetts, ME, NH, RI, VT),East Coast (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) Midwest, Mountain Region, Northwest ID, Montana, Oregon, Pacific AK, California, HI, N Pacific , Southwest (Oklahoma, Texas) etc.
‘BANA event is being held once in 2 years that began during 1979-1980 in New York for the first time, by past president Shanker Shetty. This year, it was 21st BANA 2017, hosted by DC, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia (Mid-Atlantic), held it as in Cancun, Mexico,’ said vice president Rupak Changkakoti.
The BANA executive team was passionate about redesigning the BANA logo to visually communicate what the organization represents to the community......phrases do you associate with BANA....community, togetherness, legacy, connections, traditions, best of both worlds.
Girish Shetty and Sarosh Shetty were students of Indira Gandhi Engineering College in Koparkhairne, Navi Mumbai, before settling in USA, compered the event on July 1.
Many regional youth groups participated in picnic held at Barracuda Beach, that highlighted volleyball and basket ball matches at the beach held on July 2. Women participants from New Jersey partaken in Zumba, bingo and evening entertainment on July 2 midnight. Besides, Anya presented solo dance, Verren demonstrated Karate, Anuva and Prihana presented dances, Mala Shetty preented a song, Aashish, Sneha, Eesha and Elan from Bonston presented stand-up comedy on July 2.
Shweta Adyantaya distributed the prizes to the winners of different competitions.
Announcing the winners of BANA 2017 Academic Awards...The Lila N Shetty Memorial Scholarship to Awardee, Akaanksh Shetty is the son of Amitha and Rathnakar Shetty of Houston, TX. He will attend the Paul L Foster School of Medicine in El Paso TX next fall.
K M Shetty Memorial SAT Prize, the award is presented to Kiran Shetty, son of Vaishali and Tharun Shetty of Long Island, NY. Kiran will be attending Vanderbilt University in the fall and plans on majoring in Biology.The Dr. Ajit Hegde Memorial Scholarship recipient, Varsha Malli is a biotechnology engineer from Mangaluru. She is pursuing a MS in occupational and environmental hygiene at Johns Hopkins University.
Shweta Adyanthaya said, ‘We highlight outstanding accomplishments from young Bunts across the country. Aashna Belenje (14 years), (daughter of Sweeta and Sukesh Belenje of Saratoga, CA) won the Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA) Teen Poetry Contest - 2016. Aditi Shetty (18 years), (daughter of Dr Sudhir Shetty and Dr Madhavi Naik of Kensington, MD is the winner of the Olin Teague Scholarship for the continuation of an ongoing effort to use impact basins on Mars to glean information about its early geologic history.
The Committee thanked outstanding outgoing directors – Suhana Rai (VA), Govind Shetty (TX), Ravi Shetty (CA) and Dr Sanjay Shetty (MA) for their service, said Kripa Shetty, secretary BANA 2017.
Aasha Shetty, treasurer of women wing of Bunts Sangha felt elated attending BANA 2017, in USA for the first time, her father into hotel industry in Navi Mumbai. Saroja, Krishni, Murli, Bhaskar and Shakuntala Shetty also shared the same sentiments.
