Mumbai: Sheela Shetty elected general secretary of Railway Yatri Sangh Borivali (W)

Mumbai, 17 Jun 2015: Railway Yatri Sangh Borivali (West) elected Sheela S Shetty Dahisar as general secretary during the general body meeting held at Hotel Gokul, Borivali (West) here on Tuesday June 16. The founder president of Yatri Sangh – Virar Shankar B Shetty presided the meeting.
Sheela succeeded Sasi Kumar C Kundar Bappanadu who passed away recently serving as general secretary for several years.
Yatri Sangh president Simantoor Uday Shetty handed over the charge to Sheela on the occasion.
Yatri Sangh active member and advisor Simon P D’Costa, executive secretary Oliver D’Souza Vasai, joint secretary Rajit Suvarna, members Yermal Harish Shetty, Premanat P Kotian, Simantoor Kishore Shetty, Nikhil Shetty recalled the relentless efforts of Sasi Kumar Kundar in addressing the grievances of railway passengers with concerned authorities.
All the members observed a minute of silence to pray for the repose of the soul of Sasi Kumar during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Uday Shetty said that Western Railway (WR) reserved fifth track for long-distance trains including goods trains. It would benefit the passengers to board local and outbound trains. The train passengers of Konkan Railway (KR) had to be united in pressurizing the Indian Railways to lay second track along KR route, said Uday.
Yatri Sangh led by Borivali MP Gopal C Shetty has taken up the issue of beginning new train services on KR route of Bandra – Borivali – Vasai – Diva – Panvel, while the united efforts are indeed needed to urge union railway minister to allocate the funds in railway budget of 2016 in this regard.
The next meeting will be held in Link View Hotel, Link Road, Jayaraj Nagar, Borivali (West), Mumbai on Saturday August 1 at 10.15am.
