Milagres College, Kallianpur celebrates fun-filled Alumni Day

Udupi, 23 May 2022: It was a long awaited day for enthusiastic former students to join together in the College AV Hall at 7.00 pm to be witnesses for a grand get together, on Saturday, 21st May, 2022. It was a totally new concept visualised by the organisers to involve, recognise and enjoy the evening to the brim…..with very minimum formalities and speeches……which was apprciated by all participants.

 

PRO of the College and a proud alumnae, Mr Ravindran took charge of mike to lead and Curtain was raised with the traditional prayer to invoke Almighty Lords blessings followed by a welcome note by the President of Alumni Association Mr Shekar Gujjarbettu, who recognised the august presence of all dignitaries as well as First batch student Mr Mark Olivera, VG of Ahmadabad Diocese V.Rev. Edward Olivera and others….

 

Then it was straight away to entertainment by a versatile Singer Roshni, who had the credit of lending her voice in many albums, and various articles in Udayavani, Vijaya Karnataka etc which received thunderous applause by the listeners. It was then the turn of Gokuldas Shenoy for a duet – Ye Raten...Ye Mousam – to remind and rekindle College days / years….. an energetic pair of alumnae known for conducting spot games, who too now serving as the faculty in Ms Chandrika and Ms Prathima were successful to choose the lucky person in Harry DSouza, with their Letter Game….Then it was truly a fun filled Communication Channel to pass-on two messages in ears to end up with a totally cruel and hilarious note…!

 

Day was very special with two alumni in Loyleeta and Loylisa two sisters with two years of gap celebrating their Birthday’s on 21st may, with special cake cutting and sharing their joy with distributing cake to all present.

 

 

It was time to Melvyn and his wife with melodious voice to present ever green Dr Raj Kumar / Janaki in Yellelli Nodali, ninnanne kannuve, with fitting dance steps to enthral the audience.

 

The atmosphere is gearing up to foresee q thrilling night; it was time to honour the great achievers in academics’, arts and sports. Rank holders in M Com viz Renita Lewis III, Swathi Poojary IV at the Mangalore University  and Anusha who won the Gold Medal for her record scoring in B.Com Exams in Financial management – with traditional shawl, garland, fruit basket and  a memento by the representatives of faculty and former students.

 

Keertana, II B Com, the sprint queen and latest sensation of Milagres College on tracks too was honoured for her spectacular performances at University / National level. Her brother Kishore now a special Coach at MCK too was present with the Physical Director Nikhil DSouza. Principal Dr Vincent Alva was astonishingly always ready with even minute details, facts and figures of all the achievers, gratefully remembered the support and encouragement by Nagaraj Bengre, a proud alumnae, who donated Rs 6.2 Lakhs for the development and moulding young sportsmen in our College.

 

A well known name in popular music with multiple talents as composer of songs, lyrics, stories and articles already a sensation in few playback and Album singing Roshni was specially recognised on this occasion with traditional shawl, garland, memento by the MCK Alumnae Association. It was recalled that she has participated in National NSS Camp held at Ooty in 2017 and Cultural competitions in 2017-20…. On behalf of all great achievers who hoisted the flag of Milagres to new heights, Roshni, gratefully replied to the felicitations through a melodious song……!!

 

It was Gokuldas Shenoy yet again with his solo Hindi number, Aaj ki hay Rathen…..

 

As the snacks and refreshments served, Dr Jagdish Shettigar, took the opportunity to beautifully narrate beautifully with his chosen words,  the unique greatness and contribution of Milagres Alumnae Association, without asking and appealing…….for that matter, Solar System, Special Chemistry Laboratory of International quality, the new 4 storied new College Building, state of the art play ground and courts…… all have a proud share of former students and well-wishers now scattered all over the globe…! He also remembered the various visits by former students on occasions as the College Campus, the Principal’s chamber, even their respective classrooms ready to welcome to share nostalgic memories of College life with their families, friends……

 

The spirit and driving force behind this reactivation and rejuvenation,  Principal Dr Vincent Alva added how a dream water well was dug and now ready with plenty of fresh, clean and healthy water…….capable to cater almost all Milagrian Institutions. He also added that a new trend of Silver Jubilee Batches are on with 1998 and it must continue, he suggested…..It’s a rare scene specially in Milagres that formers teachers are paying visits regularly and our students are truly are of golden hearts he acknowledged…….To wind up his crispy talk, sung a Kannada song, Aa Kala Chandavo, Yee Kala chandavo, probably with his own editing to enthral the gathering….

 

Now it was the turn of President of the Alumnae Association with his all time favourite, Aisa Koyee Saathi, Ais hoyee Premi….which was received by the listeners with thunderous applause. It was Principal’s spontaneous acknowledgement of special and gracious presence of Vishwanath a former National Level Athlete now serving in Police Dept, Mahesh Lecturer in SMS Brahmmavar 2003 Chess Campion at the University level, who captained the team twice at National level, Richard DSouza of Kemmannu.com, Vasu the legendary Volley Ball Player, Ms  Prathima with her long and attractive hair style, Sandeep Shetty, a famed personality in publicity world Karavalli People, with video’s etc….. and many others who were present, with their brief introduction……!

 

Once again Chandrika and Partita formidable duos back on stage with action games and Guessing..? which was won by Amrita Lewis, with a timely message by the organisers, on Anti Terrorism Day on 21st May, a fateful day former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated at Sri Perambadoor in Tamil Nadu in 1991.

 

Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Laveena DSa, to all who made the event so great, enjoyable and meaningful.

 

As the night was still young, it was prolonged till 10.30 pm as Melvin, Sheker Gujjarbettu, Gokuldas Shenoy and others were kept the audience dancing to the tunes of popular songs of yesteryears.

 

It was a day of wonderful participation by all the guests and host, teachers and former students.
