Udupi: Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo launches Centenary Celebrations of Pangla parish

Udupi, 26 Nov 2021: The inauguration ceremony of the centenary year of St John the Evangelist Church, Pangla, near here was held with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass on Monday, November 22.
Bishop Dr Gerald Issac Lobo was accorded a grand welcome when he arrived at the entrance gate of the church.
The Bishop unveiled a huge banner depicting information of the centenary year.
Earlier, Bishop launched the centenary Jubilee year logo and the prayer leaflets.
Fr Lawrence Mendonca, a senior priest from Shankerpura parish released special vehicle’s stickers on this occasion.
In his homily, Bishop complimented Pangla parishioners for the strong faith in the Lord and trust in the powerful intercession of St John the Evangelist. He said, ‘The jubilee is a remembrance. All need to live that faith which was sown 100 years ago. We need to build families and not buildings. Life of prayer, forgiveness and love should be inculcated in the families,’ Bishop said.
Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, the parish priest thanked the Bishop, priests and parishioners for their presence and prayers.
Fr Anil Pinto, assistant parish priest, John Rodrigues and Anita D’Souza, the parish council vice president and secretary respectively, Seema Margaret D’Souza, Laity Commission coordinator, Fr Leslie D’Souza, parish priest of Mount Rosary were present.
A large number of parishioners also took part in the celebrations.
